Thank heavens for Klarinet and the Internet, and to heck with the
gardening.....

When I removed the register key and ran several objects down the tube,
no debris came out. I was just about to put my clarinet back together,
but I thought, "One more time, Bill." So I fished around in the tube
one last time with the pivot pin, and Voila! A _large_ tangle of swab
fibers let loose of the tube and came out!

It's possible, I suppose, that the repairman was 'tricked' the same way
that I almost was.

When I put the instrument back together, my throat Bb is 'right on' and
not stuffy and easy to sound. Now I don't have to pretend that I
wasn't hurting a bit for having to put my favorite instrument aside.

I inspected my swab carefully, and it isn't fraying.

I hope others of you who haven't dared to mess with your keywork will
accept my reassurance that removing & replacing the register key (at
least) is not difficult, but be sure that you _really have_ cleaned out
the tube.

Thanks to Tony Pay especially for nudging me in the correct direction.

Cheers,
Bill <the Slayer Of Weeds takes a holiday)
