Nancy,

I had a similar situation with both my Eb and C rosewood
Patricola clarinets, and was able to get barrels from Guy
Chadash that surpasses the sound I got out of the "good" barrels
on both instruments. The C barrel was from a batch Guy made with
a thicker wall, to make the C clarinet have more "substance" in
the sound. The pitch problems also went away. You might want to
give Guy a call about the C barrels. I don't know of anyone else
making C barrels. He makes them in batches and sells off the lot
before making more.

By the way, I did find that the mouthpieces made a huge
difference on my C clarinet (contrary to all of the people on
the list who insisted that they used the same Bb/A mouthpiece on
their C.) Unless you play the same make/model of C as your Bb/A,
you might want to try out a few different ones to see if it
gives you more flexibility with the barrels. I am playing on a
Clark Fobes San Francisco mouthpiece for my Patricola C.
