My first clarinet teacher had me get a small eye makeup bottle (or other
small container) and fill it with white (unflavored) Crisco. I used that
as cork grease for about 5 years until last summer when I got my new
clarinet. It didn't appear to cause any damage, but I wasn't sure, so I
switched back to regular cork grease. Anyone know if Crisco would have a
negative effect on the cork or the wood? If not, it's a whole lot cheaper
than traditional cork grease.
