I have had a lot of good experiences with a program called "Noteworthy
Composer" It allows MPC function for playback, and has a very intuitive
keyboard interface for writing/editing in addition to the mose interface.
It is not as easy as using somerhitng that will interface with a MIDI
keyboard but it is the best I have found.
