Actually, Lelia Loban and Tony Pay started a tale a couple of months ago
wherein a mandrake root became a clarinet on one strange evening, and I
was mightily tempted to (attempt to) work Ents and their blackwood
cousins into the tale's next episode somehow. The problem was --- as
evidenced by the large number of clarinets still being produced today
--- that lady clarinets did not up and disappear, and thereby doom their
race.
