Bill,
Those letters are used to indicate which right-hand fingers are to be =
used to play those particular notes. "a" is for anular, (tilde over the =
n), for the "ring" finger; "m" is for medio, for the middle finger; and =
"i" is for indice, for the index finger. Additionally, "p" would be for =
pulgar, for thumb, and, rarely, (and usually flamenco), "s" is for the =
smallest finger, on the other side of the hand from the thumb. Any =
questions about numbers, numbers inside circles, or Roman numerals? (or =
anything else about classical guitar notation?)
