Noisy British Orchestras breaking the Law

This appeared in the International Musician, a magazine of the American
Musicians.

Impending legislation may drastically reduce the permitted noise levels in
British orchestras within three years.
Presents UK legislation allows 90 decibels but that limit is frequently
exceeded by 5 decibels or more
Each 3 decibels doubles the volume so it's like going from 30mph to 150 mph.
On the loudest days the orchestras are breaking the law says specialist
Alison Wright Reid.
When a new Europe-wide directive is implemented the orchestral players will
have to be offered ear protection at 80 decibels

In addition to making musicians play quieter, there is a suggestion of
"weekly averaging" meaning that orchestras can play some thing loudly
provided they balance it with quieter pieces.
Orchestral managers may have to balance their programs bearing in mind the
noisy level of the repertoire.

What about here?
