Despite the negative comments about marching band in this forum, I went to
South Bend this weekend to play and march with the Notre Dame Alumni
Band. Including the 350 members of the current ND marching band, we had
approximately 1000 musicians on the field, playing everything from the
"Notre Dame Victory March" to "Stars and Stripes Forever." Of course, such
events are not really about music but rather about friendships and
connections. Still, I think we carried out the musical aspects of the day
successfully, and managed to inspire the team to another
victory. Actually, it was pretty nice of the football team to come and
play their little game while us old farts rested up between performances!

If you have to mic a saxophone, the rest of the band is TOO LOUD!
