Sometimes, in the real world awards are not given for accomplishments but
are given to satisfy "political" situations. Don't get discouraged.
Sometimes the undercurrents are out of your control. Learn to play for the
love of the music and not the love of the awards!

| That remined me...
|
| Other teachers at my school tell me all the time about how the band
director
| talks about what a delightful student I am and how I am the most talented
| student he's had. He is always rude to me though. He never wanted to talk
to
| me from day one and he never tells me that I am good and he gave the
| outstanding band student award to a sax player who asks me to count and
clap
| her parts for her before she plays them. He knows I do this too! I mean, I
| was the only student he chose to send to solo and ensemble and I made
| all-state being the first to make it from my school in a long time. I take
| my instruments home to practice every day! Very few people practice any at
| home. Why wouldn't he give me this award? Even though I never really cared
| for awards, I did think I deserved it along with the rest of the band.
This
| would have made me think he hated me if people didn't tell me he says all
of
| these nice things about me. He very well may, and just like to brag about
| me.I was just wondering why he treats me so bad, but then braggs and
praises
| me to everyone else, including other people's parents and the other
| students. I know these people aren't making it up because I hear this
stuff
| almost every day. Do you know why he does this?
