 Yes, it is.   That's why I mentioned it.
 
 I think that I understand what you're saying --- namely, if you like
 something that you hear, who cares whether it was the performer or the
 recording engineer who created it.
 
 But mixed in with this thread is the concept that a particular sound can
 be reproduced during a live performance.   This may not be true.
