Well.... as far as being precision engineered... Rebecca states:

There is one exception though. One of the clarinetist's mouthpiece is old,
but is says "B45" and it sounds good.

If the "exception" sounds good- with the connotation that the others don't
then somehow I don't think having to replace one of these mouthpieces would
be the biggest crisis in the world. Let them paint them and then buy a
good student mouthpiece from Clark or elsewhere!
