I use a $15 dollar pair of plugs made by Etymotic Research. Keeping
them clean is the only maintance. These are either 15dm or 18dm plugs
(cannot remember) and retain decent timbre for other instruments. Of
course your sound is massive coming through the bones of your head.

Etymotic also make the expensive type which are fitted by ENT type
folks. They are worth the money. Have you ever priced ear surgery...

Good luck

Hi list,

This may seem like a silly question, but I don't know the answer, so
I'll
ask. I'm seriously considering investing in some of those earplugs
made
for musicians because these days I spend about 10 hours a week in very
loud
band and orchestra rehearsals. However, considering the hefty $150+
price
tag, I don't really want to have to replace them any time soon. For
those
of you on the list that use earplugs, do they wear out? And how long
do
they last before they do? Do I ever have to worry about the shape of
my
ear changing or something so the earplugs won't fit after a while?

Thanks,

Robyn
