I'm still way behind on reading E-Mails, but
just read the last several days worth of Digests
from the Klarinet List. Suffice it to say, some
people will never like most transcriptions, no
matter how tastefully done they are. I've never
heard the Clarinet Version of the Beethoven
Violin Concerto myself, but some of you people
do, and some do not, seem to like it. That's fair.

However usually there is less to argue about,
when the original composer transcribes his own
work. There is the nice C Minor Woodwind
Octet of Mozart, that he transcribed for String
Quintet. Then there are the Solo Concerti of
J.S. Bach, of which even the best scholars are
not sure whether the harpsichord, violin or oboe
d'amore versions came first.

In fact this last week I've had little sleep, being
busy up the yin-yang, perfecting the transcription
of the Solo Horn Part of my Horn Concerto for
Euphonium.

(WARNING!!! Do NOT get a Horn Concerto
stuck up your yin-yang! It is NOT a pretty picture!)

Fortunately I doubt that Bach suffered such
dangers from his harpsichord concerti.
