Alex,

First of all, don't be afraid to shop online. A clerk in a supermarket is
just as likely to steal your credit card number as a hacker. And even in the
worst case scenario you are only liable for $50.

Second, there is no perfect online store, just like there are no perfect
musicians. I can make several suggestions:

Brook Mays (www.brookmays.com) has the best selection and decent prices, but
their website is hell to navigate -- by the time you find your product you
don't want to deal with them anymore.

Muncy Winds (www.muncywinds.com) are very reliable and inexpensive, but they
don't have their catalog online yet -- you have to request a printed one.

Woodwind & Brasswind (www.wwbw.com) have very good selection and reasonable
prices, but their delivery is ridiculously slow -- at least two to three
weeks, and sometimes more.

1Stop Clarinet & Sax Shop (www.1stop.ws) has the lowest prices I could find,
and they deliver fast. However, their selection is very limited -- they only
carry a couple of major brands, so if you want to get something beyond
Vandoren reeds you have to look elsewhere.
