Internet shoppers: 1. How safe is it (online fraud, substandard
merchandise, etc.)?
2. What's the best place to shop (prices, selection, service, etc.)?

The major houses have both (800) numbers and web pages. So if you're
not comfortable online, you can shop by phone at no extra cost. All of
them will mail you catalogs.

In general, the major houses have lower prices and good quality and
broader selection, but your local store can give you more personalized
(and sometimes, but not always, more immediate) service. Sometimes the
major houses will offer more "try before you buy" help so long as you're
willing to pay service charges and shipping costs back and forth.

Since there's no local store for you, I think that you can shop with
confidence at any of the following: (this is not an exhaustive list)

Woodwind and Brasswind
International Musical Suppliers
Muncy

Cheers,
Bill
