<very big grin> You mean that music isn't the only human pursuit where
absolute statements are criticized?

But seriously, I don't contend that a certain type of code _is_ best.
Rather, I notice that many people pursue portability (which is one of
the basic reasons that compilers exist) and universality in many varied
activities; and in this sense, some people who play music dislike
extremism in the opposite direction.

Lastly, I am _not_ proposing a universal rule.... which is why I
prefaced both posts with "partly in jest". But I wanted to highlight
that music, like any other activity, can go too far in one exlusionary
direction and can effectively become "inbred" and "out of touch."
