This is off-topic, but I feel the need to point out something.

In a "normal" environment, this approach makes sense. But when you are
dealing with a disability or trauma, the "normal" connections between
cause and effect may change.

If a child is throwing tantrums because (say) he has seen the kid next
door get away with it, then a firm explanation and some discipline may
be appropriate. But if a child is responding to some situation
(perhaps biological, perhaps emotional trauma), then basic discipline
may not produce the result that you want, or it may actually produce the
opposite result.

Someone needs to decide which is the case in the situation that Lelia
described, and obviously it can't be any of us. Brainstormng amongst
strangers can be valuable, and so I don't regret that I offered some
suggestions, but none of us are on the scene.
