I hope this isn't ancient, but a friend --- who has heard me attempt to
sing --- passed this on to me, along with a comment of: "Is this why
you play clarinet?"

George wanted to learn piano for most of his life. For their 50th
wedding anniversary, his wife gave him a beautiful grand piano. Three
weeks later, a friend asked the wife "How are George's piano lessons
coming?"

"Oh" she repied, "I sold the piano and gave George a clarinet instead."

"A... clarinet !? Why would you do a thing like that?"

"Because he can't sing while he's playing the clarinet."
