With respect to parts for clarinet in D, I had so little occasion to
play them that I rarely gave the matter the thought it deserved. But if
I were playing today, I'd buy a D clarinet without blinking twice. You
can't lose money on it. The Mahler symphonies are resplendent with D
parts.
