Sorry, I'm a little late catching up to this thread.

I agree with David that there is a lot of interesting information to be
found on CD booklets and LP liner notes. But one caveat is that one has
to check the accuracy of this information against some sort of reliable
primary source material. Sometimes that material can be hard to find, if
not impossible. But the people who write these liner notes have to get
their information somewhere, and for the sake of accuracy, it is
necessary to try to find out where. A lot of "myths" have been passed on
by copying spurious information from one program note to a recording
booklet to the next program note, etc.
