I've been using an old plastic Bundy 1400 for my jazz horn, for similar
reasons. I have it tweaked very well, and it plays as well as or better
than any other clarinet I have. It has the old .590 cylindrical BT-style
bore and can really put out. It is also very flexible, and will bend notes
extremely easily.
