I know this isn't really what you are asking, but a couple of years ago I
tried a number of alto clarinet mouthpieces. So far, of all the
mouthpieces I have tried I like the Vandoren B44 the best (I have two and
they are very similar). I tried a Selmer (don't remember which one) that
was close. The Woodwind Co #5 wasn't far behind and it was about one-half
the price of the Selmer and Vandoren.
I have also tried some hand-faced alto clarinet mouthpieces, but haven't
found one yet that I like as much as the Vandoren.
