This is the first time I have written (just joined). I have played on an
Arlie Richarson "Artistic Model" mouthpiece all of my adult life (we're
talking a long time here). It has developed a couple of rough edges. Does
anyone know where I can get a replacement?

I could always play down to the note as well from 2-4 notes above it.
What I could not do was to start at that note from a no-sound condition.

Okay. In a spirit of camaraderie, I was leading up to the following
point:

The emphasis on "starting from a no sound condition" caused me to wonder
whether you are starting from a no-sound condition because you are
interrupting your air or changing your grip or biting on the reed (or
whatever) between articulated notes.

It's a different situation, of course, when the printed music includes a
rest or change of dynamic.

The register key exercise is useful because it gives you the 'feel' of
continuing to move air at a steady pace and to maintain constant
embouchure and finger pressure and so forth.

Cheers,
Bill
