For some of us, music is not only an enrichment, but it is the only
choice we have in life. I have never had any desire to do anything
except play clarinet and make quilts. Many of you may have suspected
that I am, shall we say, a bit "academically challenged". Some people
might even say "feeble minded". I really did try my hardest in college,
at least it seemed so at the time, and I graduated with a 1.9 gpa. There
is no way that I could have handled a major in engineering or business.
Our recent move to Manitou Springs, Colorado has been such a blessing
because this is a community of artists and musicians. We live up the
hill from the Business of Art center, which has concerts and events 7
nights a week. Some people, like my wonderful clarinet student, David
Kumpf (on our list) can choose to be a software engineer due to their
intelligence. Some of us are born to be clarinetists only, and cannot
live without the arts. ANNIE
