Probably I'm displaying my naivete, but.....

I couldn't help noticing that the Kalmus edition of Scheherazade for
full orchestra is $440, while the Luck's edition for full orchestra is
$245, and the "young band arrangement" (which presumably required
additional labor by an arranger) is only $50.

What do you receive/sacrifice in exchange for such differences in cost?

Rimsky-Korsakov died in 1908, and therefore copyright could affect an
edition's price only if research had revealed a different version that
was published during the last 75 years. Is there such a discovery or
dispute about Scheherazade (similar to disputes about K.622)?
