Nanci,

If I read your message the right way, you want to buy a complete set of
music for Scheherezade for students at your local high school to play. If
you are looking for the original piece, which may well be too difficult for
a high school orchestra to play, Edwin F. Kalmus, which is part of Belwin, I
think, has it. (P.O. Box 5011, Boca Raton, FL 33431 (561)241-6340).

If you are interested in arrangements intended to be more playable at any of
several school band or orchestra levels, Kalmus (or Luck's, which has a lot
of the same music Kalmus has) won't help. The largest national supplier of
school-oriented music is J.W. Pepper & Son, Inc. They have an outlet in
Tacoma, WA, but the best way to order is either online (www.jwpepper.com) or
by phone (1-800-345-6296). Their phone operators can help a great deal if
you don't know exactly what you're looking for, and they can have music
shipped from any of their outlets and warehouses nationwide. They have
pretty nearly everything intended for school use in stock somewhere in their
system, and you can usually get delivery within a couple of days.

Even if you're very familiar with the performing level of the group you want
to donate to, I would suggest doing this in cooperation (consultation) with
the ensemble director. He may have regular contact with a more local
supplier who may offer discounts (Pepper doesn't). Also, he may have a
preference as to composition and (if applicable) arranger and may not be
comfortable with your choice if you make one on your own.

Best of luck.
