The other day, I was sawing through a billet of grenadilla wood to cut a piece long enough for a bass calrinet extension that I'm making.

My dog, Toby, is a dauschund. I've mentioned him here before. Anybody who comes to visit IMMEDIATELY meets Toby.....and meets Toby...and meets Toby....

Anyway, he was curious about the smell of this wood and came sniffling around. Before I could make a move or say anything, he had licked up some of the sawdust (which does have a nice spicy, almost chocolately smell).

I immediately stopped him and cleaned up the sawdust.

About two minutes later, he came over to where I was working, looked me in the eyes, and SPIT UP the sawdust and some dog saliva.....

With this WOUNDED look in his eye...Like how COULD I have fed him something like that!

I watched him closely for a day - he's fine. But he stays away from the grenadilla dust now!
