You might also consider having an oil treatment done on the instrument.
Naylor (I can't remember his first name or where he is located, but some
people on this list know) did a great job on my clarinet that I bought in
the mid 70's. My instrument had been played during that time, but the oil
treatment he did really restored the wood. I don't know how much money you
would like to spend on this instrument, but would certainly help the
instrument. Also, you should definitely get the tenon repaired.
