Unfortunately neither link is currently working.

After all this, does anyone have any pointers to real studies done? As
Forest mentioned, statistics can be misused, and hopefully a peer-reviewed
and published study will account for external factors. Just because I _want_
good music education to influence academic studies doesn't mean that it
actually _does_.

Yes, I want it to - it makes "sense" to me that it would. Which is why I
need to have studies done by people who probably _don't_ want it to affect
academics. It's easy to subtly bias our results - the rationale for
peer-reviewed journals.

Remember the 1st thing you learn in Statistics 101 - correlation does not
imply causation.
