This raises a question, Bill:

(I'm quite sure that she objected to the unexpected locations of leaps,
which didn't 'fit' with the time signature --- but that's not my

Is it acceptable to beam (say) three quarter-notes and leave a fourth
quarter note standing by itself in 4/4 time?
