Raymond,

On the chance that you're seriously hoping for answers to some of these
questions, I'll take a crack at a few of them (but I won't promise the
answers will satisfy you).

Don't try to _perform_ this as a clarinet duet. If you want to play it for
fun with another player, you must make many adjustments to the original
parts, mostly having to do with range, double-stops and bowing/phrasing.
Also, there's the matter of the accompaniment, which in its original version
involves an orchestra. If you want to actually perform something, there's
too much else out there that's more appropriate.

Touch the tip of your tongue to the reed instead of the middle of your
tongue. But the more complete answer is to find a competent teacher and take
some lessons.

Find a competent teacher and take some lessons. There are too many
possibilities and you can get hopelessly confused trying them on your own,
because you may need to change a combination of things in both your
equipment and your physical approach to tone production.

Check the archives for suggestions - again, the possibilities are nearly
limitless. You need a good source of equipment to try and someone to point
you in a direction to start. Again, finding a teacher is a good way to go.

There have been discussions of this that you can look up in the Klarinet
archives. "Glass mouthpiece" is a little too generic for anyone to respond
very constructively - there are a lot of different ones available made in
different ways for different markets. One thing - they are quite breakable.

There is no "yall" on this list. You'll get a range of opinion from
individual list members that will without doubt leave you more confused than
you are now. Anyway, what synthetic reed? What "wooden" reed? What kind of
playing are you using it for?

Without having any idea what the symphony (or the passage you ask about)
sounds like, the quick answer is that the choice you're asking about isn't
really yours, it's the conductor's. Ask him/her how he/she wants the passage
to sound, then do it that way.

They're both good clarinets. What's your impression of them?
