I'll actually be working that day in the same office, the same chair...in
front of the same window through which my view of the world changed forever
that day. I appreciate your concern. Perhaps working that day will be
therapeutic in some sense. I guess I should feel lucky that so little of
my tangible life was actually altered by those events. I haven't flinched
at the sound of an airplane in months, although I'll never look at a jet-
liner in the sky the same way again. I have to look away, for fear that
it will explode before my eyes if I stare too long. The imagination plays
tricks on you. It took the crews a while, but eventually the window wash-
ers got around to steam-blasting the side of our building to remove the
dust of the towers. I left my blinds down and blocked out the world
until they got around to it.

As for my laptop, it's always with me...whenever I sit down.
