I'm interested in obtaining a book on how to fix reeds (not
necessarily make them). I also want to know the characteristics of
the reed, like what part of it affects the sound it produces. For
example, I noticed if I have a stuffy sound in the lower register, I
shave off a bit at the bottom of the reed, then it becomes less
stuffy. I saw some books at www.vcisinc.com, in particular: C66.
Handbook for Making and Adjusting Single Reeds, but I was wondering
if anyone recommends this, or another book that includes what I'm
looking for.

Thanks in advance.
