Thanks, Roger. I'd failed to check out the chat page because I assumed it
was a chat room (I avoid those), but it's actually a bulletin board and, as
you say, a good one. A help staffer, "Daniel," answered my question, so I'll
pass along the answer: as the general consensus here figured, SmartMusic 7 is
not compatible with Sibelius. "Daniel" thought it might be possible to use
the programs together by saving a Sibelius file as a MIDI file and then
opening it as a MIDI file in SmartMusic.

I've decided to stick with what I've already got, since I'm having a minor
compatibility problems between my HP computer, Windows XP, AOL and Sibelius
already. If I've been online, I have to close everything and re-boot the
computer before I open Sibelius. Otherwise, the first time I try to save,
the program crashes *without* saving and I lose everything I've done.
(Sibelius already knows about this glitch.) No big deal, since this computer
re-boots fast, but I think adding another layer of incompatibility to this
mix would be asking for trouble.

Now look, this here's Dick Vigorous borrowin Lelia's brain an fingers fer a
minute. Ya remember me, dontcha? That's right, yeah, I'm a rat, a dirty
rat, got my secret passages between the walls an under the floorboards, love
to lay in the attic an listen to the clarinet every chance I get--
Skreeeeeek! Cool. Ya gotta problem with that? Shove off. An take yer cats
with ya.

Anyhow, what I wanna know is, this MIDI thing can make noises, like tommy
guns an stuff, right? So I want her to use some of them noises. Like in my
favorite Jimmy Cagney movies. Rat-a-tat-a-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat, like that,
see? Guns. Explosions. "Top of the world, Ma!" KA- BLOWIE! Them kinda
noises. But to get em, ya gotta input some numbers and she ain't got 'em.
So where does ya find them MIDI codes with all them noises? On the Internet?
Or if ya gotta buy a book, she'd probably do that. She's a sucker fer
books.

Keep squeakin, us rats is yer biggest fans!
Dick Vigorous

P. S. Hey Shadow Cat, ya lazy bum, whatcha caught lately besides that dumb
shoelace ya pretend is a snake cause ya got nothin better to do? Killed any
wild socks this week? Hahahaha!
