Subj: [kl] Ligatures for Legere reeds
Date: Sun, 18 Aug 2002 12:39:38 -0400

I was glad to see a posting about Legere reeds. I have been using them to
make my mouthpieces for about 2 years and now I am using for my
professional playing - most recently in perfrormances with the San
Francisco Symphony. I am finding them to be superiror in many ays to cane
reeds.

I have played the Rovner ligatures for most of my career, but I am finding
that the Legere reeds need a ligature that provides more focus. In
particular the thoat tones seem to be a bit unfocused with the
Rovner/Legere combination. Recently I acuired a new Harrison Ligature as
produced by Rico. It works very well.

My current setup on clarinet is:

Fobes/Zinner CF+ mouthpiece
Legere #4 1/4
Harrison ligature (silver plated)

Clark W Fobes
