I've used Legeres almost exclusively for about 3 years. Living at high
altitude, it is nice to have reeds that don't dry out while playing! At
first I used Eddie Daniels' ligs (modified Rovners) on soprano (Eddie
Daniels mouthpiece) and Rovner on bass (Clark Fobes m/p). A few months
ago I changed to Spriggs on both. The only issue seems to be that they
are slightly more slippery than cane reeds; this made the ED-Rovner a
little harder to set symmetrically but it wasn't the reason I changed.
Acoustically both were fine; I have come to like Spriggs ligs very much,
that's a function of lots of things, but they did improve the high-note
response of the Legeres, which is the only weakness I find in them.

I would appreciate comments about what ligatures have been found to work
especially well (or poorly) with legere reeds. Archives seems mute on
this point. Thanks, Frank
