I have heard plenty about "moving and shaking". Are you guys done yet?
When I see Ricardo Morales moving and drawing circles with the
bell of his clarinet, it doesn't bother me at all, because he is so
musical and he has terrific rhythm. When I see clarinetists trying their
hardest to overcome reed problems and basic clarinet playing problems,
such as louzy articulation and flexibility, using "moving & shaking" to
help them along, I feel so sorry and sad for them. But I would never
criticize them for moving. I would criticize them for sounding bad.
