I actually own a Bonade ligature, and like it a lot. I use the
Vandoren Optimum ligature with three interchangeable plates for
different sounds instead now. The irony is, I use the Optimum
plate that is made to duplicate the Bonade rails on the internal
plate... go figure.

I prefer the Optimum for various reasons to the Bonade, but the
primary reason is the single screw to tighten in the Vandoren as
opposed to the Bonade.

The biggest reason for the Bonade, besides being a good
ligature, is that it is cheaper than most of the trendy
ligatures on the market, at less than $20, while the Vandoren is
over twice the price of the Bonade.

If you like the Bonade, or even if you don't, the Optimum is a
great ligature to try...you might even like the 2 NON Bonade
plates for the Optimum better than the Bonade plate!

I have been told that the Bonade ligature with the gold plating
is infinitely better, and I have tried ones that have the gold
plating on it that were outstanding. If you have a good Bonade,
you might consider plating it gold, although I think that the
gold plated ones just HAPPENED to be better than the silver ones
I tried, since they all play a little differently.

My 2 cents...
