Nah. Then they just ride the chair as if it were bucking like a bronco.
I remember a performance in San Francisco of an Asian guitarist. Can't
remember his name, but among the guitarists in the audience they attest-
ed that he was/is on the level of Williams, Parkening, Tennenbaum, etc.
He played transcriptions of orchestra works, incluging Stravinsky's Fire-
bird, and it was quite a pyro-technical display. I did have to close my
eyes however, because I felt sure that the chair would throw him and he
would break his arm. I couldn't bear to watch.
I've learned over the years that closing your eyes during a performance
truly does alter the experience, and pieces/orchestras/performers that
I didn't particularly like before became much more meaningful and inter-
esting to me when using only my aural sense and nothing visual. I high-
ly recommend closing your eyes and just hearing the music and let it
get inside of you through your ears.
