Subj: [kl] Tuition question
Date: Tue, 6 Aug 2002 16:54:41 -0400

This question is to the college/university teachers on the KLARINET
list. However any college students who have accurate information about
"their" college/university are welcome to answer.

I am doing an informal survey (using you all!) on what your
college/university charges students to be in the instrumental ensembles
and for private lessons. For instance here at Union University , all
students both music majors and non-music majors are charged $440 per
ensemble per semester. So a year in band is $880 and if they also play
in the Jazz band it totals, $1760 a year. Our scholarship funding is
quite minimal (8-10% of annual tuition) and for the majors only.

1. Ensemble Fee (tuition) for music majors.
2. Ensemble fee for non-music majors.
3. Marching band fee (tuition) for music majors.
4. Marching band fee (tuition) for non-music majors.

5. Private lesson fee (tuition) for weekly 30 minute lessons.
6. Private lesson fee (tuition) for weekly 60 minute lessons.

7. Average music major scholarship or your range.

8. Average non-music majors scholarship or range.

PLEASE feel free to answer me privately. Many of you may NOT want this
information in the public domain. I will not share your specific
information with any one. The survey is to see if we are charging too
much and to better serve our students so we can encourage more students
to perform!!! Those who answer this message will get a summary of my
findings...in a few weeks. I will not share the summary with the
KLARINET list at large.
