Hi everyone

This is my first post - I'm Tanya and I 've been playing the clarinet on and
off since I was a teenager. Now I'm *well* past that and I am still enjoying
learning clarinet. I also play flute and sax.

I wanted to share in the 'fantastic experiences' thread - I just got back
from seeing Sabine Meyer playing Mozart's Clarinet Concerto at the Sydney
Opera House (what a venue! Have a look at www.sydneyoperahouse.com.au if
you're interested). Her performance was simply mesmerising. I was struck by
how much she moved on stage, though this didn't detract from her playing!

The program notes state that as Stadler and Mozart were both Freemasons "it
is probable that the clarinet and particularly the basset horn (also used in
the Requiem and The Magic Flute) had a particular ritual and symbolic
significance for them". Can anyone expand on this?

Tanya
