Some time ago, there was a query about finding opera recordings on DVD. For
that person, if you haven't found what you want, I have the following:

First, I've just received a current catalogue of the Metropolitan Opera Gift
Collection. They have a fair collection -- mostly standard rep. -- covering
labels Philips, EMI, Erato, Teldec, NVC Arts, Kultur, Pioneer (Classic MET
telecasts), VAI, Sony, and Koch. These show full list price. It's hardly
comprehensive, but would be place to start filling holes in collections.

Second, I've found that my DVD dealer ( www.digitialeyesdvd.com ) is
carrying, in stock, most of the Naxos of America, ArtHaus Musik, BBC Opus
Arte, & TDK classical DVDs at 10% to 25% below SRP. I haven't asked, but I
wouldn't be surprised if Mark at Digital Eyes could order any of the
standards and get them at the same discount rate.

(Usual caveat: I have no connection with, nor do I receive any
consideration from, Digital Eyes, other than a very satisfied experience in
purchasing from them from the time they started with laserdiscs up to
today.)
