Fantasy Variations on a Theme by Paganini, by James Barnes
Has a superb contrabass clarinet solo. The only recording I could find was
here: http://www.greatlakesmusic.com/royalband.html (scroll down a little
more than halfway).
I played the piece with the Arizona Symphonic Winds back in 95; if
you know anyone who's been in that group a while (since you live in
Tucson), they might have a recording of that concert (which also featured
a transcription of Strauss _Don Juan_) recorded at Casas Adobes Church, I
believe. If you can't find it, and don't want to buy the cd, I can make a
digital dub (mp3) from my audio cassette of that performance (contact me
off-list if you need that).
