Dear Kimber, I also like many forms of music. It has been difficult
finding a style of popular music that works well with the clarinet. I'm
till trying to figure out every angle. Old R&B, jazz, swing, and certain
classic rock groups work well for us. The DOORS sound great with long,
haunting clarinet solos. Thanks to (I forgot his name), the gentleman
who wrote in and referred me to the Blayman Stands, I will now have a
decent stand for my A clarinet, which I am going to need for the next
batch of DOORS tunes on our upcoming performance on Aug 2. Playing the A
clarinet takes on a whole different perspective when dealing with
guitarists, who like to play in terrible keys for the Bb clarinet. We
live in Manitou Springs, Colorado and most of the residents here are
middle aged "hippie" types, but with jobs in engineering and software.
For a while, they were into the "Grateful Dead", which does not go
particularly well with clarinet unless you're on LSD, which I'm not.
Anyhow, I don't perform in bars as often as I used to, but I do enjoy
playing gigs on clarinet and I have for many years. ANNIE
