Rossi instruments are very nice. I'm not sure why someone would
say that, unless they saw one of his german models with the
roller keys, and thought it was an older type model clarinet.
Many people not familiar with the Oehler key system for german
clarinet models mistake them for Albert system clarinets, which
WOULD be more primative than the modern clarinets. Luis Rossi
makes fine instruments with professional keywork ONLY (no
student models available.)
