Lynda,

Forrests Music in Berkeley, CA is a great resource for music,
reeds, repair, and buying new instruments. They are well known
in the double reed world, but also have carried clarinets and
flutes in their store in the past (not on their website,
though.)

When I lived in San Francisco, I travelled up there for repair
and reeds frequently. Very nice people.

Here is their info:

ALSO, if you are looking for information about similar
instruments in the E13 range, try the clarinet archives. They
are located on a link on the clarinet pages at:

http://www.woodwind.org/clarinet/index.html

Just click on Klarinet Archives on the left, and then do a
search for:

E13 Yamaha

and that will give you all of the listings for the E13 and the
Yamaha instruments in the archives to peruse, such as the Yamaha
34 and 52. It will also on some of the listings give you
alternatives for these instruments, like the Leblanc Sonata, the
Noblet 45, and the Selmer Prologue. There are 28 matches for
this particular search, which should give you a wealth of info
on this matter, as it is hashed and rehashed with regular
frequency here on the list. Other brands you can use with E13 in
the "Refine search" line (in PLACE of "Yamaha" in the search
line) are Selmer, Leblanc, Patricola, Jupiter, and Howarth.

You will probably want to steer clear of Winston, Jean Baptiste,
and Monique clarinets, as they use cheap pot metal keys that
bend and break easily. I have had clarinet and sax students on
these brands of instruments, and you would be better off staying
with the instrument you have.
