And before people ask, I am not related to Pastor Luby(!) Jackson is a
common surname y'know ;-) anyway I think it's about time I put in my two
pence here about this mailing list.

Am I, shall I say just a touch saddened that nobody seems to take
Kimber's views seriously simply because she's only 13. I had strong
views at 13 that I still hold, and during that time I got very upset
when people didn't take me seriously simply because of my age.

Walter, I think it's just a touch unfair to lump Kimber's posts with
Luby's!!

I also sometimes get the feeling that I, myself am not taken seriously.
Perhaps it's because I don't play classical music on the clarinet? I
don't know, but this is just what I feel.

Also there have been quite a few off-topic discussions that have cropped
up over the last few weeks, that seem to have totally taken over the
clarinet discussions! I think the argument about Luby's religious tag
went on far longer than it needed.

I do find that *some* people on this list (I'm not saying all, so don't
jump on me) are snobbish about new people asking basic questions about
the clarinet. If this is such a problem, then why not put some message
about it on the terms and conditions agreement?! We all have to start
somewhere, and we where all beginners once.

Anyway, I think I've said enough for the moment,

Best wishes,

James

Kimber--

Based on what I've read, it pathetic that you are stuck in your ways at
age 13. You are TOOOOO young to really even know what life is all
about...because you haven't really lived a life. I won't question your
views, as they are those of a teenager, but be aware that this list
includes individuals of all ages, and many professional clarinetists and
educators.

I don't expect you to believe me, but I can say with some degree of
certainity that your strong-willed views will be tempered as you get
older and mature. I can speak with some authority on that, as I am a
middle-aged old fart with usually strong opinions.

A tradsnob is a TRADitionSNOB...rather, I am stuck in my ways... ;)
It's a funny word we use when my classes get together...and no, I don't
think it's a lot of blather. The entire reason I wrote that was so that
I didn't have to get bi***y to people. You're right though, it doesn't
concern a lot of clarinet. Butin a way it does. I never openly stated
it, but I have a question and was trying to find the answer. Is a
clarinetist more likely to enjoy classic rock ro oppose it, because most
rock doesn't involve the clarinet. I mean, is a drummer more likely to
like it, or a clarinetist. So far I think the majority doesn't like it,
but what does everyone else think? Kimber the TRADitionSNOB Wrestler

hate people who do that, with a passion. I have to admit, I am a bit of
a tradsnob when it comes to music and such, but I am open minded enough
to look at things from more than one presepective. I was being
sarcastic, but when I got the impression that people were being, well,
nasty towards what I had to say. So, I went on the defensive. The only
reason I am bothering to explain myself is because I don't want anyone
to get the wrong impression of me. I am incredibly friendly, really a
nice person. So.....
