My second question is one of the worth of this instrument. I realize
that without seeing it, this is very difficult to determine. However, I
live in a rural area and will not be visiting the city for a few weeks.
While it's no fun to wait, I notice that you didn't say, "I played it a
bit and...."
The fact that you haven't played it and formed your own opinion
indicates that you really do need advice from a competent repair person.
Be warned that a basic overhaul can amount to $200-$400 quite easily.
You can buy an intermediate used clarinet in wood in good condition for
$1000 with no problem, or a plastic student model that plays well for
$300.
Pyne is a respected name in mouthpieces, but this tells you nothing
about the instrument to which it is attached. Again, you need advice
from someone who knows about such things.
Cheers,
Bill
