I agree with Kimber here...

I do not think Led Zeppelin was ever called POP music, even back
in the old days. (And I remember them fondly.)

Although they were popular with the masses, the critics hated
them... Along with a lot of DJs. "The Beatles", "The Rolling Stones"
were the pop groups back then... (among others.) David Bowie was popular
but is he consider a "pop musician"? no... He was considered to be a
"glam rocker." Although Led Zeppelin was also known for their
experimenting with other styles of music, acoustic-folk... Etc... they
are best known for the heavy blues riffs of Jimmy Page, and the wailing
voice of Robert Plant... Hardly the definition of Pop.

We might as well say "The Backstreet Boys" is a Rock Group
because they have electric guitars in their songs if you want to call
"Led Zeppelin" a Pop group because they were popular... Which they still
are... And they still are not considered a Pop group.
