Michael, I don't have much education in this sort of thing, but listed
amongst my books are:

Beethoven, Sextet for two clarinets, also Septet op. 20

Schubert, octet op. 166

Jack Brymer's book (Yehudi Menuhin series, of which you have several
copies, I think) has quite a repertoire in the back. Some of the
compositions are later arrangements for clarinet of early music, but
Brymer mentions a 1700's clarinetist who wrote and who also added "the
first 6th key" to the clarinet:

J. Xavier Lefevre (1763-1829)

Brymer mentions Franz Danzi (1763-1826) and A. Reicha (1770-1836) and
George Onslow (1784-1853) and Krommer (1759-1831) and Bernhard Crusell
(1775-1838); but it's not clear from his book whether these people wrote
a few things originally for clarinet, or whether other people arranged
their music for clarinet later on?

Cheers,
Bill
